Arin Scapa

Awards & Recognition

Arin R. Scapa is a plaintiffs’ lawyer with Mary Alexander & Associates, P.C., a boutique woman-owned law firm specializing in catastrophic personal injury, childhood sexual abuse, wrongful death, products liability, and mass tort litigation. She co-manages the San Francisco law firm’s new office in Los Angeles.

Arin also spent several years in insurance defense, including as a staff attorney for The Hartford. While with The Hartford, she received awards for attorney of the year and for delivering outcomes for the successful negotiation and settlement of numerous claims.

Arin’s legal career, however, started in criminal law — an internship at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office inspired her to go to law school. She then worked as a paralegal for a criminal defense firm and attended law school at night. After she graduated from law school, she spent four years working for the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California in the Criminal Division’s Major Frauds Section. There, she handled sensitive federal investigation material for indictment, produced voluminous discovery, prepared for trial and assisted at counsel table during trial, and (ghost) wrote post-trial motions and appeals filed in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Arin received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California Irvine in 2004 and her law degree from the University of La Verne College of Law in 2010.

Arin has served on WLALA’s Boards since 2016. She has served as co-chair of the Career Mentoring Committee, Appointive Office Committee, and Financial Development Committee, which is responsible for planning WLALA’s annual summer fundraiser, WLALApalooza. Arin also currently serves as WLALA’s liaison with the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Litigation Section’s Executive Committee.
