Caitlyn Handy
2019 RBG Scholarship Recipient
Ms. Handy is entering her second year at UCLA Law School this fall. Ms. Handy will also be entering her third year as a social work student this fall. She will be earning a joint JD/MSW degree in May 2021. Prior to law school, Ms. Handy worked as a behavior therapist in special education classrooms across the Los Angeles Unified School District. That is how she gained a passion for advocacy on behalf of children and families. Ms. Handy has been volunteering for the Education Rights Clinic at Public Counsel, and will be working with issues involving disability (Disability Rights California) and special education (Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce) this summer. She will then focus on IEP (Individualized Education Program) advocacy in the fall. Ms. Handy plans to seek a career in special education law after she graduates from UCLA.
