Judge Judith C. Chirlin (Ret’d), served on the Los Angeles Superior Court from 1985 to 2009. Upon retirement from the Court, Judge Chirlin became an arbitrator and mediator with Judicate West. There she created the Judicate West Foundation, which for many years has funded WLALA’s “Power Lunch” programs.
Over her years as a lawyer and on the bench, Judge Chirlin became involved in numerous efforts to improve the legal systems and the administration of justice in California, throughout the nation and around the world. A renowned speaker and educator, Judge Chirlin has traveled extensively, consulting on court reform, human rights and conflict resolution and teaching programs for foreign judges, lawyers, police officers, educators and other professionals in more than 20 countries.
She has served on the WLALA Board for over 30 years. She has also served on the Boards of California Women Lawyers, the National Association of Women Judges, the International Association of Women Judges and the American Bar Association’s Rule of Law Initiative.
