Hon. Jana Seng

Judicial – State Court

Judge Jana Seng was appointed to the Los Angeles Superior Court in 2018 by Governor Jerry Brown and became the first the first Cambodian American judge appointed to the bench in the state of California.  Judge Seng is currently the Assistant Supervising Judge of Criminal Division, Traffic for the Los Angeles Superior Court, and the site judge of the Metropolitan Courthouse. 

Prior to her appointment, Judge Seng served as Head Deputy and trial attorney at Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender’s Office. Previously, she worked as a trial attorney at the Los Angeles Public Defender’s Office.

Judge Seng is the current Chair of the Los Angeles Superior Court Traffic Committee and a member on the Judicial Council Traffic Advisory Committee.  She serves on the board of the California Asian Pacific American Judges Association (CAPAJA) as the 2nd District Representative and as a Co-Chair of its Student Scholarship Committee.  She serves on the California Judges Association (CJA) Administration and Technology Committee.  She also serves on the board of the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA) as a Judicial State Court liaison. 

Judge Seng was awarded the Trailblazer Award by the Asian Pacific American Bar Association (APABA) in 2020, and the Highest Achievement Award by the Los Angeles County Cambodian Employee Association in 2019.
