California Civil Rights Department (formerly CA Department of Fair Employment and Housing)

The California Civil Rights Department (CRD) seeks a Fair Employment and Housing Counsel to provide legal guidance and support to CRD’s California Public Records (PRA) section. CRD’s mission is to protect all people in California from discrimination in employment, housing, businesses of every kind, and state-administered or -funded programs and activities, as well as from human trafficking and hate violence. As the largest state civil rights agency in the country currently litigating several high profile cases, CRD has an active PRA section that is tasked with responding to requests for records relating to these high profile cases and other complex requests. The successful candidate will conduct legal research and analysis in support of CRD’s responses to requests for records under the PRA, and also respond to complex and/or large public records requests on behalf of CRD. The ideal candidate will be a professional in law and public records. The FEH Counsel is supervised by the Assistant Deputy Director who reports to the Deputy Director of Executive Programs, who in in turn reports directly to the CRD Director.
