Meena’s Microaggresions Reminders
Welcome back to Meena’s Microaggression Reminders.
February’s Fix
How to educate yourself without placing the onus on a person of color to do it for you. Rather than asking a person of color, what you should do to learn or how to help, instead perhaps begin the process for yourself.
While two key steps in learning about other cultures and perspectives are to bring curiosity and develop empathy, it is also important not to tokenize person of color to curate your education. For February, which is Black History month because of the impressive work of Dr. Carter Woodson, I have provided some initial ideas for a reading list.
