Michelle DeCasas

Judicial - State Court

Michelle DeCasas was appointed to the Superior Court for the County of Los Angeles in 2020 by Governor Gavin Newsom.  She is currently assigned to a misdemeanor trial court in the Metropolitan Courthouse where she serves as Assistant Site Judge. Prior to her appointment, Judge DeCasas served as a deputy city attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office since 2007. She was a civil litigation associate at Tesser & Ruttenberg from 2003 to 2007.  From 2021 to the present, Judge DeCasas has served as Vice Chair of the Los Angeles Superior Court Traffic Committee and a member of both the Community Outreach Committee and the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.  Judge DeCasas has served on the Board of Governors of the Woman Lawyers’ Association of Los Angeles from 2020 to the present. As a law student, Judge DeCasas served as a judicial extern for Judge Richard A. Paez of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  Judge DeCasas earned a Bachelor Degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law.
