A sponsor is an individual who seeks to support this nomination. A sponsor should know the nominee in a professional or personal capacity and be able to discuss how the nominee meets the criteria of the subject award. If an individual is self-nominating, the individual can act as their own sponsor. Neither the nominee nor the sponsors are required to be active WLALA members.

Sponsorship Letter(s): A sponsorship letter, i.e., a letter of recommendation, should provide information to inform the Committee as to how the nominee meets the award criteria. If an individual is self-nominating, the nominee may submit a sponsorship letter or their own behalf. In addition to including the sponsor’s name, employer, and WLALA affiliation (if any), sponsorship letters should address the following:

1. How long has the sponsor known the nominee?
2. In what context does the sponsor know the nominee?
3. How does this nominee fulfill the criteria for the award/recognition? Provide specific examples.
4. How does the nominee advance women in law?
5. How is the nominee involved in their community?
6. Why should WLALA nominate or award this individual?
