Clover W. Li

Clover Li is a proud Los Angeleno, born and raised in the heart of Downtown, Los Angeles. Her and her peers’ experience growing up in the city motivated her towards public interest and community work.

With about 200 hours in pro-bono hours, Clover was the sole chair of the Education Rights Project at UCLA Law in her 2L year. She revamped ERP’s ACLU Project to have law students create accessible, comprehensive Student Know Your Right Modules for their webpage, memorandums to advocate for student protections against federal funding for Indigenous communities, and art justice as well as mapping schools who violated student rights.

She started collaborations with the Alliance for Children’s Rights where law students become the primary advocate for a student impacted by foster care with special needs. There they identify potential violations committed against them by the school, and advocate for resolution to grant the student necessary placement and services. As well as begin UCLA connections with the Learning Rights Center for law students to do beginning intakes and case-work with clients.

Lastly, Clover also started the Education Rights Holder Project with the Children’s Law Center where volunteers become the education rights holder for a foster care student. Volunteers work with the student, attorneys, social workers and any relatives to zealously advocate for the student’s educational needs to the student’s school, school district, and courts.

Clover is also a member of UCLA’s Let’s Go Liberation Project that helps people file name and/or gender changes to better match their gender identity, and UCLA’s Labor and Economic Justice Project that works with labor unions to secure worker’s rights.

Clover has completed an externship with Public Counsel’s Gender Justice Project that works to create more equitable and just conditions at school and in the workers for people of all gender identities, and will be doing an externship with the Alliance for Children’s Rights in her 3L year.
