Domestic Violence Project
Volunteer to provide legal assistance to victims of domestic violence through Sojourn Services for Battered Women and Children. Email jillpianoes@gmail.com for individual volunteer opportunities. Clinic volunteers commit to one Monday evening per month.
Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law
Co-founded by WLALA and Black Women Lawyers, the Center provides free family law assistance and legal education to the poor. WLALA Foundation provides financial support annually. WLALA members are invited to join the Center’s New Leader Network, a community of rising leaders who network at events. Volunteers are also sought to take on a pro bono case, part of a case, or to assist with remote intake and advice calls. Downtown Women's Center
DWC is the only organization in Los Angeles exclusively dedicated to addressing the needs of women overcoming poverty and homelessness in Skid Row. WLALA Foundation provides financial support annually and offers group volunteer opportunities, such as with the cooking club, donation drives, and supporting its social enterprise and boutique, Made by DWC. Inner City Law Center is a nonprofit poverty-law firm serving the poorest and most vulnerable residents of Los Angeles. WLALA offers group pro bono opportunities in an eviction defense clinic.
