Courtney Mendoza

2019 Public Interest Grant Recipient

Courtney Mendoza is a rising 3L at USC Gould School of Law.  She graduated magna cum laude from Chapman University with a Bachelor of Arts double major in Political Science and Psychology.  Courtney’s Fran Kandel Fellowship project was created during her summer as an intern with the National Health Law Program. She created a training manual for new advocates in the health law field, specifically for partners in the Health Consumer Alliance, which is comprised of a group of health law advocate organizations in Southern California. The training manual was created in an online format so that it could be dispersed easily among advocates. It contains comprehensive training materials on Medi-Cal and specific health law topics that commonly affect low-income, underserved populations in Southern California, like immigration status, disability, and reproductive rights. It will help advocates in their work to provide improved quality, cost, and access to health care for the Southern California area.
