Cristina Matsushima

Cristina Matsushima is a Deputy Attorney General at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General, where she litigates in the Health, Education, and Welfare Section.  In addition to representing over 30 State agencies in state and federal court, Cristina assists with attorney recruitment for the entire Civil Division and serves on the DOJ’s Women Employee Resource Group.  

A Tennessee native, Cristina received her bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. After earning her law degree from Boston University School of Law, Cristina started her legal career in private practice in Boston before moving west and joining a California-based firm in 2014.  She joined the Attorney General’s Office in 2017 and has been an enthusiastic advocate of State service ever since.
