A Brief Word of Thanks

By Stacy Horth-Neubert, WLALA Foundation President

February 2021

It never ceases to amaze me how adversity can bring out the best in people. 2020 was about as tough a year as any we have collectively lived through, and January 2021 did its best to give 2020 a run for its money. Nonetheless, so many of you came through in a big way to support the WLALA Foundation during these challenging times. Under the leadership of Susan Steinhauser and Elizabeth Dyer, our Charitable Fund Campaign had its most successful year ever, raising over $34,000 dollars and counting. WLALA member and patron rock star Matthew Umhofer raised $6,700 for the Foundation during the first ever virtual LawRocks charity fundraiser. WLALA Student Liaison Mariana Orbay put together a terrific and informative program, Constitutional Queries, which raised nearly $500 for the Foundation. And WLALA President Jessica Kronstadt has come up with a half-dozen new ways to financially support the Foundation, from virtual exercise classes to the currently ongoing postcard fundraiser (check out the super cool postcards you can purchase HERE; all proceeds go to support the WLALA Foundation). Each and every dollar raised helps the Foundation achieve its goal to make a dramatic impact in our community, through our RBG Equality Scholarships, ICLC Fellowships, Fran Kandel Public Interest Fellowship, Beverly Reid O’Connell scholarship, award-winning Power Lunch Program and other pro bono efforts, and support for mission-aligned organizations including the Downtown Women’s Center and the Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law. To each and every one of you who have provided financial support to the WLALA Foundation this board year, thank you. We promise to put your generosity to good use.
