Madison M. Jackson
2022 BRO Scholarship Recipient
Madison M. Jackson is a first-year student at American University and will be pursuing a major in Communications, Law, Economics, and Government. She is also enrolled in the school’s Three Year Scholars Program, “Policy, Politics, and Law.” While in high school, Madison was elected as the treasurer for the Class of 2022 and actively participated in Mock Trial, Heal the Bay and achieved status as a company dancer at On The Edge Dance Studio. In addition, Madison frequently volunteered at the Culver City Senior Center, the Feed Culver Program at Grace Lutheran Church, Farragut Elementary, and assisted as a poll worker for the 2020 United States Presidential Election. As an active Girl Scout starting from kindergarten to 12th grade, Madison achieved her Gold Award in 2021, the highest accomplishment in the organization by establishing the Tenderheaded Project, a platform for people to embrace their naturally curly hair, self-confidence and learn about hair maintenance. Madison also co-founded the Curls, Coils, and Kinks Club at high school, helping students learn about curly hair with occasional discussions on the role the media plays in hair standards and self-acceptance. In the future, Madison hopes to work in the legal field where she can learn to be the voice for many people, whether it be through changes in education or in the legislature. Her goal is to remove division and ignorance between communities.
