Merete Rietveld is a senior appellate court attorney in the Second District of the California Court of Appeal. She has worked for several divisions in the Court, drafting appellate opinions in civil, criminal, and dependency cases. Prior to her work in appellate law, she clerked for two judges in the unlimited civil division in Stanley Mosk Courthouse, assisting with the law and motion calendar. Merete started out her legal career as a litigator for DLA Piper in Century City. She currently serves on the LACBA board of trustees, the WLALA board of governors, the LACBA-WLALA Joint Task Force on the Promotion and Retention of Women, and the LACBA President’s Advisory Committee on Women in the Profession, and is a member of the LGBT Bar Association of Los Angeles.
