Natalie Marroquin

2024 BRO Scholarship Recipient

Hello! My name is Natalie Marroquin, a current high school senior at James Monroe High School located in North Hills, California. Starting this fall, I will be attending Columbia University majoring in Political Science. Throughout my four years of high school, I have participated in extracurricular activities that gave me an outlet to express my passion for law and advocacy, such as Mock Trial and Speech & Debate (both of which I was the captain of during my senior year). I also completed an unpaid internship during my senior year in which I taught local elementary students the basics of trial procedure and helped them perform their own mock trial. I’m also a massive bookworm and have a passion for writing, so I ran my own book club for two years called The Literacy Circle and currently am the co-chief editor for my school’s newspaper The Vanguard. As a writer for the school newspaper, I write articles of ALL kinds, from editorials on issues such as college protests to movie reviews. In the  future, I hope to become a civil rights lawyer and columnist for a newspaper as prestigious as The New York Times.
