November 2019
Happy November! It feels like we just saw each other at the installation dinner but summer is gone and the end of the year is fast approaching. Need proof? Recently I went to CVS to pick something up and was greeted at the entrance by a stuffed Santa Clause! It isn’t even the end of October, I thought to myself, and they are already putting out winter holiday decorations?! I know this is nothing new – I have the same reaction every year, wondering why we can’t enjoy the entire autumn season rather than racing to the end of the year. Commercialism and wildfires aside, fall is one of my favorite times of year – Halloween gives me an excuse to eat more chocolate than usual, the weather gets cooler, allowing me to envelope myself in cozy sweaters, and it means ski season is approaching.
November is also traditionally a time of reflection and gratitude. I am thankful for so many things – my health, family, friends and all of you – the members of WLALA. Thank you for connecting and creating opportunities for women lawyers and judges, for speaking up for gender equality and inclusion, and for breaking down barriers. A special thanks to all of you who have put on or attended a program so far this year. The success of WLALA and its mission depends on individuals like you.
In celebration of all of this, I hope you will join us at WLALA’s Annual Holiday Party at the Jonathan Club on December 12. It is a wonderful occasion to come together to celebrate a year of growth, progress, and camaraderie. Please save the date.
