The month of April brings with it Spring, and for many a glimpse of hope. We see baby birds hatching, flowers starting to come back to life from their frozen slumber, and are reminded of the opportunity for a fresh start. Many of our friends and families join together in celebrating Easter, Passover, or just perhaps a family picnic. Others join together for the Spring invitations to baby and wedding showers. 

One thing that unifies all of these events is the opportunity to spend quality time with people we care about and to meet new people who share common goals.

This Spring, I encourage you to welcome new friends in your life by attending one of the many events WLALA has planned for this month. In addition, I would like to acknowledge and congratulate our sister bars APAWLA and BWL who are both celebrating their 50th Anniversary this month. I hope you will join me at their celebrations. Most of all, I hope this Spring brings you the opportunity for a fresh perspective on the world around you. 

On a more personal note, April also happens to be Autism Awareness month, an important issue that many of our members and their families face on a daily basis. I wish you well during this season of renewed Individualized Education Plans and renewal applications for benefits. WLALA will be holding an event on the resources available to families and children on the Spectrum, (date TBD).

Finally, if you are interested in getting involved in WLALA I encourage you to consider applying to be on the Board of Governors. Applications will be on the website soon and are due May 31st!
