RECORDING Voting Rights Matter
$5.00 – $35.00
Voting is a critical way of making our voices heard and shaping the character and future of our state, country, and local communities – but too many obstacles stand in the way of women of color and other historically disenfranchised communities. Join WLALA for a discussion about the impact of those barriers and how we can overcome them. Julia Gomez, a voting rights attorney at the ACLU of Southern California, will update us on the latest threats to voting rights, including close to home in California. Rachael Jeck, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Reigster Her, will illustrate the impact of underrepresentation in voting, the changes that can be effectuated when more women vote, and strategies for increasing voting among women, particularly women of color.
