Stephanie Diaz

2024 Harriett Buhai Fellow

Stephanie Diaz will be a second-year law student at Michigan State University College of Law. Ms. Diaz grew up in Panorama City, California and is the first in her family to graduate from college and pursue a law career. After obtaining her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis, she spent almost two years working as a Client Assistant at the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law (the Center). At the Center, Ms. Diaz managed phone screenings, intake interviews, and prepared pleadings for low-income clients. This summer, Ms. Diaz will return to the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law as a law student fellow. She will help victims of domestic violence, improve the well-being of children, and empower individuals in Los Angeles. In the fall, Ms. Diaz will join the MSU Chance at Childhood Clinic where she will advocate for children involved in custody investigations and guardianship review. Upon graduation, Ms. Diaz plans to practice family law in the Los Angeles area and serve marginalized communities. In her free time, Ms. Diaz enjoys running, strength training, and spending time with her Lambda Theta Alpha, Latin Sorority Inc. sisters.
